Easy Jet Hand Baggage Policy

I've booked flights with Easy Jet. They indicate hold baggage not exceeding 20kg per passenger. They also say that you can have one carry on baggage with dimensions not exceeding 55 x 40 x 20 cm. There is no mention of the weight of the carry on bag. Am I correct in saying that Easy Jet allow you to carry on as much weight as you like as long as it fits within the bag as indicated above?

We flew to Prague with Easyjet last week taking hand baggage only. They don't weigh carry-on bags but you must be able to get them in the overhead lockers unaided. Our bags were the 55 x 40 type that expanded beyond 20 deep, but they didn't seem to worry about this at either end.

The greater concern seems to be that at the security check you can only have one bag. So ladies have to be able to get handbags into the case, only to take it straight out airside.

I did notice that lots of people seem to be taking this option, even if it is to avoid having to wait for bags at the other end.
