Do I need ID to cash out postal orders?

Hello!
I was sent in post some postal orders and the first name on them is not exactly the first name on my passport
Can I still cash them out?
What do I have to do?
thanks!

that's all well and good, but I for one have a google search policy.
never click on the 1st 6 links of search results, start with the 7th and the 7th in this instance gives you...

now I am really stuck, confused and frightened.

    That link was useless.

Amongst other things it points right back to the OP's post and to a load of foreign sites!

I don't know the answer, but it wouldn't surprise me that you do need identification. These days, where 50% of the population are money launders, we can't be taking any chances. State-sponsored paranoia.

if they are crossed postal orders you cannot cash them at all, they have to be paid into an account like you would a cheque.
even if they're not crossed, paying them in might be the best option.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

I dont know what you mean corssed, they dont look somehow crossed

How do I pay them into an account? Do I need ID or I just give my account details? Do I do this in a bank or in post office?

the very first link on the google search was the Post Offices own FAQ's

    http://www.postoffice.co.uk/postal-orders-faqs

    the first FAQ says

If you need a hand, just pop in to one of our branches.

only a Post Office Branch can answer the question

the only other thread on here is five years old and out of date

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3069890

using the Post office web sites own FAQ's WAS the answer and WAS the top of a google search

You're right. As it happens I was running Google while using a foreign-based VPN, hence the proliferation of foreign search results.

The question remains unanswered though, despite the Google search, so I think the OP was asking for an opinion from someone with direct knowledge of the issue.

And he's off. That didn't take long.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
