    hi
my dogs are now fed raw food and their poo is hard to.

from what i have been told as long as dog is not straining to go harder poo's are good
it means they are getting the nutrients they need and it helps their anal glands to work properly
my dogs do smaller hard poos and are doing well
it also depends on whether you are feeding bones or not
if you think it is too hard or dog is straining to poo cut back on the bone for a while

Raw food doesn't have all the hard-to-digest fillers like wheat, corn, rice, etc. so the poos are much more solid and compact.

As an example, my raw-fed Rottweiler x did a poo at work (dog-friendly office!) at the same time as a colleague's biscuit-fed Cockerpoo, less than half her size. My colleague actually commented on how my dog's poo was the same size (if not a bit smaller) than her dog's - there's just so much less waste food, resulting in less waste product as such.

However, as said above, too much bone will result in very firm poos with the dog straining to have its poo. Constipation can be painful for a dog, and in severe cases, the bone could compact in the gut and cause serious issues - though this certainly isn't common.

Are you feeding a commercial raw food bought in tubs/packs ready 'mixed' for you, or are you making your own raw diet?

Agree with the above, since being on raw my two are much easier to clean up after, it does very from day to day depending on what they've been fed, generally just firm and formed but after a heavy bone meal it is crumbly and a heavy offal meal can be softer.

How much variety do you feed? Do you add veg or purely meat based raw diet?
