Does Co-operative Bank answer its phones?

I have opened an account with the Co-operative Bank and want to start the switch process but, having tried at many different times, over the past two days and nights, I never get answered, just a message saying I am moving up the queue. This does not bode well and I am puzzled because the bank does not have a bad customer service rating. Has anyone else had experience and/or problems with getting in touch about switching?

At what times are the phone lines open and at what times are you ringing them?

We've banked with them for years and never had any problem, even late at night when a company's crashed website left me unclear about whether money had been taken.

Are you calling the local branch or the general customer service line ? I find Co-op and TSB difficult to contact locally but their customer line is very quick. Nationwide are good on both.

I think they are 24 hours I have rung them in the early morning, after a website crashed and I wanted to check if the money had been authorised.

  • I have have rung them 3 or 4 times over the last few days at different times of the day. Every time it has been a wait of around 10 minutes.

    10 minute wait ! ?
I never bother, just check the next day or 2, to see if payments
    have been taken.
More things are important to me, than wasting time phoning banks.
Payments always appear in the end or have done for me.

Yeah but for some people faffing around with direct debits to make a quick buck is what they were destined to do all day:beer:

Sorry I did not respond earlier. I rang a branch in the end and
was told that all systems were down or slow for several days. The branch did what I wanted over the phone.

I am very happy to faff around all day if I can get the £150 and £50 on top via Top cash back. Also this is an account that I would definitely continue to use because of the goodies associated with the account.
