Some years ago now Kirstie Allsop did a segment in of her Christmas programs where she did gingerbread... Now I recall it being a giant portion but that's about it! Channel4 no longer have the link on their site but it was amazing!
Long shot, but did anyone write it down or save it? I'm desperate to find THAT recipe again! :A:A:A

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is THAT one, but it is a Kirsty Allsopp one (for a gingerbread house) (I would assume she would only have one though unless she is a gingerbread fiend!)
Hope the link works!

I'd forgotten I'd put this recipe in an email to myself. This is for the biscuits not the house. Enjoy
Note: This makes a very large batch - many recipes would halve these quantities.
6 cups all-purpose flour (approx. 750g if a cup if 128g)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup shortening, melted and cooled slightly (butter, 225g)
1 cup molasses (325g / 6 large tablespoons). You can also use golden syrup or treacle
200g brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract Method:
Step One:
Sift together the flour, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon; set aside.
Step Two:
In a medium bowl, mix together the shortening, molasses, brown sugar, water, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients, until they are completely absorbed. Divide dough into three pieces, pat down to one and a half inch thickness, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least three hours.
Step Three:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C; gas mark four). On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to one quarter inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies one inch apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Step Four:
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. When the cookies are done they will look dry, but still be soft to the touch. Remove from the baking sheet to cool on wire racks. When cool, the cookies can be frosted with the icing of your choice0
