Default Date

Hi, I have a default from Provident Financial. The account start date was 01/10/09, default date 04/04/11, default satisfied 31/05/11 and default balance was £277. Am I right in saying that it shouldn't have taken that long to register a default?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

That long since when?0

This is the problem, as it was over 6 years ago only part of the information is showing up on my credit report. To top it off Provident are struggling to find my account. Trying to find what I paid and when is difficult too as an agent popped round to pick the payments up.
I am pretty sure that I wouldn't have been paying them in instalments for that long as I was in great financial difficulty that year.0 -

There needs to be more details, When did you stop paying them?0 -
I don't know
I am pretty sure it would have been in 2009 as I was very hard up and struggling to pay my essentials. I have spoken to Provident and they can't seem to find my account as it was so long ago. All payments were paid in cash to a door stop agent so I have no way to track when the last payment was. I know that probably doesn't help your question as I don't know, but thank you for taking the time to reply

but if it was only open in 2009 then you must have been paying something?0 -
I opened it in 2009 and then I made a few monthly payments and I stopped paying0

So say 6 months of payments would take it to April,
6 months later of no payment would take it to October 2010 when it probably should have defaulted, you could probably argue it was few months late, will be gone from your file in april anyway0 -
Okay thank you for your help, I will try that with them. As you can see I haven't a clue how it works!0
