Selling Car on Ebay and PayPal

What is the current advice on selling a car on EBay and accepting PayPal? is it still a bad idea? Can they still start a chargeback?

Thanks

A chargeback is possible but unlikely- but why bother paying paypal fees on something that ebay allow you to refuse paypal on?

Save some money, take cash- don't let paypal have any more money than they need to.

Thanks Soo, that is the plan but I have someone playing silly beggars at the moment. They have offered the full BIN price (from Essex) I don't understand why he didn't just use BIN so needless to say no contact from him and I'm not going to accept his offer.......it just doesn't smell right.

Hintza, you have experience so trust your instincts. Ebay allows tyre kickers a lot of leeway and the ability to waste a lot of a sellers time.

  • I advertised my car on ebay a few weeks ago for the first time.

I have never had to deal with so many idiots and rude people in my life.

The number of people sending a message with just a price followed by question marks which was usually half of the price it was advertised was unbelivable.

We also had at least 15 people who did not bother to turn up to arranged viewings when we stayed in especially and got everything ready. You answer 20 questions from them, they arrange a viewing and then disappear off the face of the earth.

I suppose it must work the other way around too as the man that eventually bought my car was really surprised when we did not ask for a deposit to hold on to the car for him to view. He said he knew straight away that we were genuine and honest. Maybe I am too trusting and the world has changed?

Awful experience and I dread ever selling again.

I have had a load of offers at a third of the asking price, initially I replied nice and politely suggesting that if serious the come and view. Soon got bored of that and now just respond "Don't be silly"

Getting mildly peeved by the whole thing and it is only being sold as spares or repair!

    Nowt at queer as folk..........

Polish guy turned up with a transporter at 11pm last night paid the money left with the car and commented it was off to Poland. The last one I sold on Ebay a number years ago ended up in Nigeria.

Shows the quality of my cars :)
