O/S Daily Friday 2nd September 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but looks really dull, overcast and it's now raining. Did loads of washing yesterday, that was all line dried, both our bed and DS2's bed linen, was going to do DS1's bed today, I'll see what happens with the weather as the day progresses.
Dinner last night was gammon steaks, egg, chips/jacket potato, and peas, tonight I'm not sure but I'm going food shopping first thing so will get something then. I'll be going into town afterwards as I have a nail appointment this morning. I will then get some cooking/baking done.
DS2 got all his enrolment for his college course done yesterday, so he's ready to start on Monday. I also bought him the usual paper, pens, pencils etc. Life will be getting back to a more normal, 3 of us at work and 1 that was at school now moved on to college.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, got several jobs done, phone calls made, jobs done on pc, ironing mountain sorted.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Damp and miserable out there, I lit the stove last night as it was quite chilly, the washing is nearly dry.
Went back to the hospice last night, it was ok but I don't feel like I'm doing much to help. Maybe it will get better when the usual staff return.
Gave the bathroom a good clean, the shower had a good scrub with bleach, me in it in the buff then I had a good scrub, my feet were particularly clean!
Early finish for me today, may run up to DDs with a parcel she had delivered here after work.
Happy Friday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc X
Cooler here today. I am off to the church this morning - several people are popping in so I need to get there early if I'm to get my usual Friday tasks done. Dinner will be lasagna with salad. Will get the salad later today along with any other bits and pieces we need.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone.
Clear and cool here today.
The BBQ last night was fun as the hostess organised a couple of games in the farmyard before serving delicious home 'grown' burgers. As usual I didn't stay long though I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only one small drink was taken and I was back home by nine'ish.
Today I've got another training session (staff development it's called) before lunch. This evening I'm doing a PVG session for the local footie club with a slew of online banking chores to follow inbetween.
As for food, I've got a scrummy quiche in the fridge so will have that when I get back from being developed.
Hope all's well with everyone. Happy Friday.0 -
Morning folks. A drab start here too but at least the overnight rain has moved on. Thoughts of winter approaching with its dark, short days really depresses me. I am a summer person and love the long days when dawn breaks early and it stays light until 10.00 pm.
The DGDs are all still asleep after going to bed much later than when at school. Hope they have a long lie in and I can enjoy the peace a bit longer. The plans for today are fluid, will see what they fancy doing after breakfast.
Yesterday at St James went smoothly as far as Mr TA's injection went but, unfortunately, we haven't got an appointment with his consultant for the PET/CT scan results. Sod's law, he is on holiday and the first appt showing on the computer is October. The clerk appreciates that we shouldn't have to wait so long with the worry of results hanging over us so is going to try and sort an earlier appt out and will be in touch.
No jobs planned for today as the girls are with us until about 5.00 when DD gets here from work. They decided last night that lunch would be pizza and chips so that's easily sorted!
Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where needed. HILSTEP nice to hear from you, special (((HUGS))) Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning Chums, a bit cooler here today thank goodness,I like the sun but after a few weeks I want a bit of fresh air and less humidity.Plus the gardens are in real need of some water.
Today I am sewing new house colours on Henry's new blazer. His Mum had to get him a new one as the arms were at half mast on his last years one.Thank goodness he won't need another one as he is going into year 11 next week and the following year in 6th form the boys all wear suits. His brother Jack is sporting a rather nice suit jacket and matching trousers from Primarni that didn't break the bank.Their school decided last year that all 6th form chaps should wear a jacket and matching trousers with white shirt and tie.Stops all the lads, whose parents have different incomes turning up in designer tat, plus the school said it gets them used to being an adult and jeans and trainers are apparently not acceptable in school anymore in 6th form I can understand in a way as the rest of the school has a strict uniform code.Luckily Primark's do reasonable matching trousers and jackets. So no made-to-measure for our Jack, but then all of his friends are wearing more or less the same as well:)
Tonight I am going with my son-in-law and three DGS and Mikeys pal to see a football match at Wembley.I looked online and the tube fares from North greenwich to Wembley park are actually more than the tickets cost for the blooming match.Plus of course it will be another tenner to park at O2 while we go via the tube. One of the disadvantages of the stadium being the other side of the capital and us living in the Medway. But it is their end -of -holiday treat so time to dig deep I guess:) To drive its a 150 mile round trip plus parking so not a lot of difference really. It gives the boys the chance to see Wembley Stadium and a footie match. So after tonight its definitely belt-tightening from tomorrow until Christmas I think:):)
Mikey's little pal Charlie is sleeping over tonight, so I'll have to sort out a bed for him this morning.
They are all back to school next Wednesday and life will hopefully return to normal again.
Right time to nip and get a cuppa ,hope everyone has a good Friday whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Good morning, an overcast day here I think it has rained quite heavily overnight but I was tired yesterday and slept like a log! So don't really know - normally this woukd wake me. I've just seen a little gleam of sun so perhaps og will brighten up.
More work to do today, and I've had a scrub round in the bathroom to get that out of the way. I really should do some ironing once I finish work too.
I've washed a load of towels and not sure if it will stay dry long enough to dry them.
No idea what to cook, I might let OH do that today. The freezer is full of stuff, he can have a happy time with that.
I have to go on a course all day Monday, a whole day when I really need to be in the office but it is a mandatory one. It will take ages to get there too. Grump grump.
TA hope you get an early appointment.
Have a good day everyoneI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Bit overcast this morning with no sun atm, I hope it appears later on. No washing on the go as the baskets are empty (wont last long im sure)
Im going to drop DD at the station this morning then go straight to Lidl and get the shopping, that way I will hopefully be back by 9.30 before it gets too busy, I cant bear shopping at the best of times !
This afternoon I shall carry on with the big de-clutter I only have the dresser to do in the study and the under stairs cupboard / glory hole ! where I am sure OH has about 20 coats and he will be loathe to part with any of them !
Takeaway and wine night tonight so no cooking for me, I will have a tidy round though so its mainly done for the weekend.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
Lainey and LameWolf Scampi loves socks and likes to steal miss tru's. He lies on the landing with a sock underneath his crossed front pawsHe once stole a box of eggs, I found them in his bed, lol.
RosyRed I've been warned a couple of times about dodgy people in vans. If someone was looking for a fighting dog, they'd think they'd found the perfect one if they saw Scampi kicking off at a cat because he looks so nasty.
Camelot I clean the shower while having a shower too
Mr tru is off to hospital this morning. He's had a pain in his foot for ages, I reckon he's broken one of the little bones. Went to the GP , who apparantly couldn't refer for an x-ray but could refer to the hospital. Three weeks later he goes for his appointment, they said they couldn't authorise an x-ray because they're not senior enough and had to refer him to someone more senior to do that. The letter came a couple of days later, the appointment was for a couple of weeks time – today. He's not even sure if he'll get an x-ray today or if this is just for a referral for one. We're in Gloucester – with a recently done-up fancy pants hospital - but he has to go to Cirencester. For an x-ray (maybe). On a bone which if is broken, will have set itself in the wrong postion by now. Ridiculous.
After lunch mr tru is off out with his brother and nephews, it was BIL's 50th birthday a couple of weeks ago and this is the first time everyone's free at the same time. He'll be back late so I won't see him til tomorrow morning, for 5 minutes before he goes to work. He's going straight from work to a chilli festival, camping overnight and won't be back til late on sunday. So I have the next three days to myself, no interruptions, no whining, no woe-is-me, a calm dog I CAN'T WAIT!! I haven't planned anything yet but I'm going to enjoy doing that in about an hour's time

Morning everyone,
Cloudy and certainly cooler here, no rain though.
Day off today and have managed a lie-in, was awake at 2am but did get back off thankfully.
We need shopping today, have a hankering to go to Aldee so think we drive over to BuryStEd and then can pop into the farm shop on the way home for some of their nice meat to pop in the freezer. We will have Mum tomorrow and Sunday so will get my thinking cap on for meals to tempt her fancy.
Other than that it's just catching up in chores around the house and if it stays dry will take Tilly for a longer walk, Rosie can only do 20mins max so she will be left snoozing on her bed.
TA hope you get some joy re results very soon X
Jackie enjoy your family evening at Wembley, I do like our national stadium but it can be pricey!
Tru how lovely, three days to yourself, enjoy0 -
Looks like a much cooler day today which will be a relief. Will phone older DD later and arrange to meet her in York to do a bit of shopping as I have a christening to go to in a few weeks. I want to look at a silver baby bangle and maybe a pretty baby outfit. Planning on a visit to tkmaximus and a couple of department stores.
Dishwasher is on, laundry is hanging outside and the omelette maker is about to go into action for breakfast. Not sure what to cook tonight as I don't know if middle DD will be popping in. I have some slimming burgers in the freezer so could cook these with green veg and healthy chips.
TA
I hope you manage to get an earlier appointment that will put your mind at rest.
tru
Enjoy the peace and quiet.
