I have been given the option of purchasing either a Samsung Syncmaster 730MW or a Samsung Syncmaster 930MP at greatly reduced prices. If I do purchased one I intend to use it for TV viewing only.
Has anyone any experience of either of these ? Which one is best ?

Well, a quick glance at the specifications reveals that the SM730MW is a 17" widescreen LCD with 7-in-1 memory-card reader, whilst the SM930MP is a more conventionally-shaped 4:3 19" LCD. Both function as either PC monitor or TV, have a native (maximum) resolution of 1280x1024 and a quoted pixel response time of 25 milliseconds.
In addition, the former has the greater brightness of 400cd/m², whilst the latter has the greater contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a maximum viewing angle of 178°.
I've no idea which one is 'better', but it's beginning to look like the 930MP would be the superior choice for use as a television, if only because the displayed image should be easier to see from across the room. This will be little consolation, however, if you also want to watch movies on DVD, which are almost all in widescreen!0
