Excel parking - no letters then a demand from DRP

Hi all, hope you can help. I've been sent a letter from DRP (Debt Recovery Plus Ltd) over a parking ticket that I had no knowledge of. The parking ticket seems to be for a company called Excel Parking Services Ltd.
The fine is for parking at the Peel Centre back in March of this year, and the wording is "Stockport Anpr Charging Scheme Std (60-100)"
"parked without purchasing a valid Pay & Display ticket for vehicle registration"
So it seems I now owe £160 for a fine that I didn't know I had gotten.
Any help, or will I have to pay?

You don't have to pay. Please read the newbies FAQ sticky, post #4 which will tell you all you need to know about DRP (and any other debt crawler) letters.
You seem to have missed this thread as well.

and read all the BW LEGAL threads about Excel and the Peel Centre as there are dozens and that is what is likely to happen if you ignore DRP

Thanks, had a look at the newbies thread, but I have a very short attention spa...oh look, a cat...

You will need attention when the BW Legal letters arrive, followed by a court claim if you do not respond. Defendable but not a cakewalk.
The good news is, the keeper cannot be liable for the added £60 and in fact, the whole claim is defendable and possible to win at a hearing, with a good defence from a Defendant who has never let on who was driving.
Do not contact DRP.
You could try a complaint to the Peel Centre - not a template, a complaint written from the heart about how you feel about this scam and will never return to that retail park unless the unfair charge is cancelled...blah blah. Best only trying if the 'driver' (who will remain nameless) and passengers can prove shopping that day, from a bank statement, etc.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Will go through the bank statements, as we bought food from the Frankie and Benny's at the Peel Centre.0

Worth a complaint then.
We do encourage those even if people are knocked back. Do NOT name the driver nor imply who that was - the easiest way is to complain by saying: 'we are horrified by this unfair and unwelcome three figure charge' and 'we used Frankie & Bennys'...(not 'I').PRIVATE 'PCN'? If it did go to court, who picks the court, as i can't afford a long trip back down to Sheffield.0

You could have Googled that! YOUR local court. Relax. You are not in Scotland are you?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
