Benefits/Allowance

Until now, my mother was my fathers carer. She has today been diagnosed with moderate alzheimers dementia and will no longer be able to do so.

They have a total of £15k in savings. They may be spending £2k of this to alter the bathroom (necessity).

As they will lose the £62 carers allowance, will they have to self fund any help now needed in the home.
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

  • With that level of savings between them they should not have to self fund, unless they own their own home and they both have to need to move into residential care.

For you have not already done so look into attendance allowence which is nor means tested.
