Akinika hounding me for payment (please move if necessary)

Hi, I had a small £30 debt with ebay over seller fees. I took my time to pay this as had no expendable money for a month or so and in the mean time my debt was passed over to Akinika who hounded me for weeks and used bully boy tactics to try and get the money out of me despite my constant pleas that I would pay as soon as I could.

Anyway I did pay the debt off but then stupidly a few days later when looking at my bank statement online I could not grasp what the £30 outgoing payment was as it did not show as Akinika and I rang my bank to cancel the payment fearing fraud. Literally about 2 hours later I suddenly remembered and rang my bank to forget it all and not cancel the payment if they hadn't already and was told that it was all sorted and the payment would go through as normal.

Then, as Barclays are useless, the payment didn't go through 'as normal' and they did refund me, so Akinika are once again on my case. The only difference now is that eBay have unlocked my account as they obviously got the heads up the payment had gone through.

I'm completely clueless here. What can Akinika do? What are the repercussions for not paying because, if honest, I really do not want to part with any money to them, if not just for the way they go about getting it in the first place. Just looking for any sensible advice really.

Thanks, Sean

  • They can claim that you broke your agreement to pay and wilfully withheld the money. You could have your account suspended again and this time it could be permanent.

    You owe it. Pay it.

eBay or their collector can't do much more than annoy you without going to court - which they aren't likely to do for £30.
