Octagon, Direct Line or Tesco?

I have been insured with Octagon for 3 years now and have not had any trouble. However I have not had any claims, other than a windscreen chip.
I came across a thread on here about how bad Octagon are so I looked into alternatives.
I am 28, will have had my license 4 years come renewal date and will have 4 years NCB. Approx. 5000 MPY. Car is a 2001 Focus, worth pennies. I am currently unemployed, will that affect it?
Renewal price with octagon this year's is £425.
Best quotes so far have been: Direct line have quoted £490, Tesco £442 - from comparison website.
Any thoughts on these 2 options?

You'll find horror stories about any insurer, for any product they sell. If you're happy with your existing, why change?0

Apart from the "official" beware Octagon thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2637603 there are lots of similar threads here and across the net detailing the horrors of this company.
Consider thanking your stars for not having any claims with them and moving on!0 -
That's part of my thinking. Same !!!!, different name?paddyandstumpy wrote: »You'll find horror stories about any insurer, for any product they sell.
Both Tesco and Direct Line have bad reviews on trustpilot.0 -
I have amended my occupation to Voluntary worker, as I do volunteer part time and this has made some other quotes more affordable: Privalege, Churchill, Admiral, Diamond and Esure.0

Did you make it clear that you are unemployed and volunteer part time?0
