  • We now have bins and Wifi! Starting to get things settled, and the builder came round to fix some of the problems with the house. Starting to get there, looking forwarded to a good weekend break though!

  • LW is likely to get a job for four weeks which will help us a lot and fits in quite nicely with when she starts the other job!
The Friend has pulled out of the flat at the last moment (was moving in on Monday) so means we have to pay the £450 rent and wait another month for our deposit too. Not happy.

Hi Stephen didn't want to read and run............love the fact she is your LW :D

Sorry to hear about the flat, have you long to go on the contract?

Glad you got your bins and WiFi

Plus try lightly frying your meat before putting in slow cooker, it supposed to seal in the juices, it could be the pork was cooked for too long on too high, yes you can cook things for too long in them :rotfl::rotfl:

She's always LW - sometimes annoying, but always lovely!

We've got a month left on the flat contract, which we'd budgeted for, but it's more that we were five days away for not having to pay it thats the annoyance! Though the letting agent has said they've re-marketed it (wasn't marketed in the first place) and arranged a move out date for the 1st November which could mean that we still get out of the contract (not holding out hope though, and very happy if it just ends up being that we get our deposit back a little earlier)

We'd fried the meat a bit, but yeah I think we cooked it too long - I thought if anything it would get better, not worse! Oh well, live and learn!

  • Great weekend in London - got to watch my american football team play thanks to tickets from LW for my birthday (back in February) Also relaxed, and went to the Natural History Museum, all in all we had a great time and still stuck to our budget!
We have moved out of the flat and no longer have keys - but are apparently still responsible for bills (tenancy ends 30th) but having worked it out - we should only be about £3 in debit which is manageable! But still means we don't get the rent back and also means that we don't get the deposit for another month and a bit.

  • LW working is a big change - she's getting up at a similar time to me but not getting home until 3/4 hours after me. But it means we can start saving some and in time for Christmas too! Need to start budgeting soon but we're waiting till January when we can work figures out easier (but still being sensible along the way - just not being particular about noting everything down)

  • The Sofa we bought over six weeks ago which was promised six weeks delivery hasn't been delivered - turns out despite us giving them the right contact information - somewhere along the process for delivery they gave them the wrong number to contact us to arrange a day so now we have to wait for a further two weeks. And they choose a day and I can't guarantee that I'll be in because I can't take time off and LW is working at the moment. We'll have to see what happens with what time slot they give us in the end

  • Today I've been fiddling around with the spreadsheet that will keep track of everything in the new year (expenditure, mortgage, savings for car, house things, monthly balances etc). It looks magical! Can't wait to use it! The reason for waiting is because we will then be keeping track of everything properly because we have a consistent income (as LW will start her job) and so means everything else will be easier to keep track as things will have calmed down a bit too.
LW first pay was all taxed, so trying to get that sorted so it's correctly taxed by the time that it reaches us on Friday. We're on less money than I thought we would be so this helps us, especially as she will get paid three times and I will get paid before we need to spend anything big again (especially with not paying for the flat now). Hopefully going to get back to our savings buffer limit so we can start living out the budget fully in the new year and reach our targets in terms of the house, and car.
