Miele S6210 vacuum has lost suction - fix?

So I have tried replacing the bag and both filters and checking for blockages but it is still weak - about a third as powerful as before.

The drop-off in power came after it overheated a few weeks back and cut out - I think because I was using a cheap bag. Now using Miele bags.

Is it possible that something in the machine has 'blown' or been damaged in the overheating?

replacement motors are more than a new vacumn

I agree with above, from your description, it does sound like the motor's damaged.

Thanks both I will take a look at those when work allows.
Hot air is also blasting upwards out of the exhaust, which at first made me think it must be a blocked filter - but it seems not.

I don't know how old/valuable your vacuum is but I've had mine serviced before and it comes back like a brand new one.

It isn't cheap but if it was an expensive vac it may be worth it.

We had a similar problem with a Bosch vacuum after changing a bag, and found the motor wasn't in line with the pipe

Miele service dept has advised performing a blow-out - taking everything out / off, and letting it run for 30 secs

My instincts say it won't work....
