Reclaim bank charges

When I was 18 I ran into my overdraft quite a bit. Their charges would take me over my limit then they would advise that I increase my limit to buffer any further charges. On my final phone call with them, I was advised to take the limit to max (£1800) to ensure any further charges and interest would be covered. I totally missed the boat on reclaiming bank charges because I was advised I'd need to manually highlight every single charge/interest on a paper statement for as far back as was relevant - 10 years!! I thought that was an impossible task and never bothered. I'm still paying off the overdraft now. Is it worth looking into reclaiming charges or should I just forget the idea?

As you say, you missed the boat. Banks won the court case in 2009.

They only consider current hardship cases where they may make a goodwill gesture by refunding some recent charges if they believe you are in current financial hardship.
