New meerkat claim rules compare the market

I just insured my house and attempted to claim a meerkat toy. I was amazed to find that in July 2016 the claim rules changed. With your first insurance purchase you now get 2-4-1 cinema tickets (something that I wouldn't use). You only get to claim a toy after your second purchase (within 12 month time limit).
No publicity regarding this change and I doubt I'll be loyal to this site in the future. Highly miffed!

How about buying home insurance covering a major asset for the right reasons and not a cheap cuddly toy?

A house is the most valuable thing that most people will ever own. Are there really people who decide how to insure them on the basis of whether or not they get a soft toy?

(If you want a fluffy meerkat that badly, you can get them for about a fiver on eBay)

I'd like to make some sort of comment involving the term "simples" but I'm afraid it might get me into trouble so I'll leave it for you to figure out for yourselves.

OP - Ignore the harsh responses that your thread has produced. For some reason MSE attracts people who give these bullyboy type replies to newbies (which is the reason why you they put up a Newbies Badge in an attempt to get these types to cool it with new members)

These are from people who clearly don't appreciate the issue you have alerted us to, and don't understand that the free meerkat issue had nothing to do with your choice of insurer or policy!

    No.

We of course do know exactly who you are!

    What is your point?
  • A small attempt at humour, clearly lost on you. Crack on with the soft toy crisis.

In future perhaps you should mark your small attempts that are directed at individuals with an asterisk (*) and add a footnote eg. *HUMOUR

Otherwise it looks like you are just posting to try and cause trouble.

My post was in support of the newbie OP who has been unnecessarily picked on over the criteria he uses when he chooses his house insurer when that was not his issue at all!
