Help, tarmac driveway repair

I've removed a car port and the base was a big raised slab of rubble, bricks, cement and slabs. This has left a 10m2 hole that I want level to use as driveway space. Can anyone advise on what would be the best course of action here please?
I don't mind it being visually different, just durable. I appreciate any repair may allow water in the edges and freeze/crack the tarmac over time.
Finding someone to supply 3t of asphalt is not proving easy.
Would it work if I continued excavating to 250mm, lay membrane, whack in 150mm type 1, 50mm builders sand and laid large concrete slabs on this sand with the joins brushed in with sand, or is concrete under the slabs really the only way to go about it? If so, I'll hire someone in to do it all.
Thanks

looks a sound sub base.Clear out as much as you can and put a home mix strong concrete in there and float off the finish. It should match in nicely.
If you can take out a bit more for a thicker concrete. As a base it should do you fine.0 -
It's not perfectly level, would concrete still work?0
