West Coast of Scotland with a dog - BnBs?

Options
Hello all,

We're off to Scotland next week, and will have a dog along for the first time! Does anyone have any suggestions for some cheap & cheerful bnbs that are dog friendly? We're being very MSE and doing lots of camping, but I've told the other half I want at least a couple of nights in a real bed :)
TIA
Spud

How about searching on airbnb and filtering by 'pets allowed'? Should throw some options up. Note: not all airbnb listings are 'room in house' type things.

The west of Scotland is a large area stretching from Dumfries and Galloway in teh south to Sutherland in the north.

    Can you be more specific?

    Quite, Sheramber !!
Is it not just North of the Watford gap?:D A couple of hours for a quick drive round it?

In my area it is a couple of hours for some to drive to the nearest main hospital!!

However lets be of some unspecific help to Spud! Plenty of real beds for you. Do a quick search on goggle or other search engine will reveal several websites specialising in hotels/BnBs that are dog friendly such as dogpeople.co.uk (lots more : that is not a recommendation!) Those came up with just a search of 'hotel search dog'.

Find one you like and enjoy Scotland in all it's variety!:T

We are 21/2 - 3 hours ( depending on traffic) from the main hospital. 100 miles with 40 of them on single track road.
  • Ooops, sorry! We will most probably be spending the week around the Isle of Mull, although the other half wants to get some hill walking as well.

We've had a quick check of airbnb and found one, so that's a good help. Any other suggestions? :)

Google "dog friendly b and b in Scotland". Plenty to choose from. By the way Mull has loads of hills! Including a Monroe if thats his thing.

Try Tripadvisor for pet friendly bnb. You can also check reviews on the places
  • I think I assumed as it was an island there would be no hills, I have no idea why! Many thanks for the help all, hopefully the weather will stay good for us next week :D

Yes, spud see earlier post regarding a search and you will find lots.

Regarding flat islands in Scotland.....some assumptions are true and lots of people cycle around and over them as well as hill walking. But do be prepared and sensible.
See this website (about film locations really) watching the Danny Macaskill video should give you a good idea.....though not Mull admittedly;)

  • You can rely on the weather in Scotland, Spud. You will always get some!!:rotfl:

Do have a good holiday. Lots of hills close by if non to your liking on the island. Take plenty if midge repellant. Many outdoor people use Avon Skinsosoft (original). It will have the added benefit of hiding those camping smells too!
