MBNA declined

hi new MBNA card with £4000 limit. Used it spent £1000 then tried to book flights and a hotel in Finland and it was declined. Used other credit card and went through fine. MBNA say they are not declining anyone had same problem?

Are you using online VBV or offline?

Sorry MBNA admitted they had blocked the card and have now removed block. Annoying after saying they had not blocked so had to use different card.

Get them to do a free balance transfer for you to compensate.

Yes I have had similar happen on debit card when I knew funds were available, CC fraud teams look for irregular spending patterns, and block the card until they can contact the cardholder if they see anything suspicious. If you whacked the card for £1k and then booked a flight and hotel, that may have thrown up a few red flags
