Amazon!!!

Options
I was an Amazon customer for years but they closed my account because I made s few returns!

They then closed my sisters account because it was at the same address!

I used my wife's account to purchase some tools for work, costing £700. They were meant to be delivered by Amazon logistics (prime delivery)

Well they never turned up. No parcel, no card nothing. My wife had been called into work so nobody was home until evening. The neighbours normally take in parcels but they didn't have anything.

The only thing I can think of is the driver left it in the porch and someone pinched it...he always leaves parcels in the porch but normally my wife is home or the neighbour spots it and takes it for us.

Amazon closed my wife's account and said they won't replace or refund because the tracking shows as delivered to Smith (no first name, no signature). They said as far as they are concerned it was delivered in good condition!!!!!

I've asked for the drivers name or details to ring but they refuse. I've asked them to ask the driver for a description of who he delivered to but they refuse. They tell me on the phone they can't assist me, and via email that it was delivered!!!!

It's a lot of money and I need either the tools or my money back to buy elsewhere!!!

Is my only option a debit card chargeback? I fear my £700 is lost forever!

I can't understand why you are still attempting to be an Amazon customer after twice being told that they no longer want your custom? There are other online retailers, so why attempt to persevere with Amazon?

You can attempt a Chargeback, but if Amazon continue to dispute this the Bank will just re-debit the card.

You cannot contact the delivery driver because his contract is with Amazon, not you.

It sounds as if Amazon are satisfied that the parcel was delivered and the fact that your wife's account has now also been closed would seem to indicate that the reason for your original account closure was for something more than just "a few returns".

Assuming there's not something else underlying why the accounts were closed ... if the card company won't process a chargeback (check the MSE article) then your last resort is small claims court ... Google for MCOL.
  • It was a lot cheaper on Amazon that's why.

I bought hundreds of items on my account, returned maybe 3, and had a couple of refunds for broken items (j supplied photos)

My sister had a refund for a missing item which later arrived and she returned.

My wife returned one item and got a replacement.

Googling it, it seems Amazon don't like people who return things...

How can they say it was delivered based on nothing? Just the drivers word

If you can prove you were not at the address that day, then send them a letter before action and take them to court.

Something dodgy going on clearly, but perhaps mistake to order something so expensive from an account linked to two that had been closed down...?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Personally, I've returned many more items than your three accounts combined. I remain a long standing customer and there has never been any question of my account being closed.

Amazon only close accounts due to the volume of returns outweighing the profitability of sales on those accounts; generally "unsuitable" returns.

So if your returns were as few as you claim, them Amazon must have closed the account(s) for other reasons.

Normally, I would be recommending that you threaten court action against Amazon, but I think there is more to this than your posts tell us.
Have other Amazon items been "lost" in this manner in the past?

Ditto. I doubt 3 returns is why your account was closed.

I no longer have Amazon delivered to my home but use their excellent locker service in the nearby Co-Op which is open till 11pm.

I get the email at work and drive past on the way home to collect- really makes it easy and I never miss a delivery.

I've certainly returned more than three things on Amazon, in fact both my original kindle and my paper white were replaced due to faults, and then on the same account we had to get my OHs kindle swapped as well. A small percentage of issues is not the reason why both your own and your sisters accounts were closed. To then use a third account registered to the same address as a closed account would seem a little foolish.

There was either something else going on, or the 'blacklist' that many customers believe online shops hold on difficult customers, does actually exist.

Accounts can get blocked due to fraud like:

Saying a product is faulty to get your return costs paid for when it is just change of mind,
Saying a product didn't arrive when it did as they have tracking
Saying too many products arrived damaged

Could have been a number of reasons why you have been blocked.

Amazon are no longer allowing the current buy a lot of items and return them all attitude that exists with internet shopping.

I know a few people who buy 4 or 5 items (mainly clothing) and then return them all. Now I know that's what internet shopping is all about, seeing it in your own home etc but companies have to foot the cost of delivery for this.

Amazon keep a record of all the returns, faulty goods and missing items and serial complainers are banned.

I get deliveries from them on a regular basis, between them and Ebay I get most of my stuff now, hundreds of items over the years. Only had a couple of problems in all that time.

Amazon aren't stupid, they know who's at it and who's genuine.

Now they see a thrird account at an address with 2 blocked accounts and sure enough £700 worth of goods go missing, you know what they are thinking.
