  • Hi,
The loan is usually paid once the student has registered at the uni. Which uni is your daughter going to?
How long ago did you apply for the loan?

    Hi and thank you
She is going to Bangor uni in wales and she applied about 8 weeks ago
  • Before she can enrol in uni she will need to have proff that she is recieving a student loan from the SLC. She should call the SLC and check what address they have on their system for her as the correspondence may not be getting to her.

Prior to this she def should have had some contact from them. Usually there is a letter confirming they have recieved the application and then one saying how much she is entitled to for the entire year. The final confirmation which she will need to enrol is usually sent out a few weeks before the new term begins (which for most uni's is beginning of Oct), This letter will explain all of the payment dates.

Although you are taking her down on the 22nd when does her term actually start? She wont be getting the loan through until she actually enrols.

she enrols at the end of sep
so we should have had some sort of letter from them then to take with us Thank you i will get her to call them
  • Yeah, it's all a bit of a money-go-round.

The SLC sends confirmation of loan -> Confirmation shown to Uni -> Uni enrols student -> Loan is then released to student.

If the confirmation isn't shown then the Uni may not enrol the student so even though SLC has confirmed they can have the loan it wont be paid out!

  • I'm going into my third year at Bangor doing history, so if your daughter wants to know anything at all let me know.

I haven't received that letter confirming the date of loan payment. I tried to login on the loans website but they were doing maintainance on it!

Student Tuition Fee loan money goes direct to the university.

It the maintenence loan which is paid into the students account, in three installments.

My son has only just had his loan confirmation through. Now returned, but it will take a couple of weeks before we get a payment schedule.
