LA Theme Park Booking - pre or post departure?

Is it better (and more affordable) to purchase Theme Park tickets on a reputable UK website before your holiday or whilst you're there? In the past, I have waited until I have arrived and arranged this with my destination hotel. I'm looking to book visits to Disneyland Parks, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Six Flags etc.

keep an eye on the respective websites for deals,

I have been to knotts bery a couple of times and from memory taking a can of pop (maybe coke) got half price entry and I think I got a special deal booking direct with Six flags
