Hi,
This is on behalf of my brother. He has recently split from his wife of 15 years marriage (together 20 years).
They have 2 children 15 and 8. He works off shore 2 weeks on off. She is part time hairdresser. She has moved out of family home, now living with her mum with both kids and moved them to new school about 25 minutes away from original school.
They have a house worth approx 85k with 10 years remaining mortgage at approx 50k.
My brother did a quick CSA calculation and maintenance will be around 100pm as with his work involved arrangement and the kids going to school further away it's not feasible to have 50/50 custody.
Can anyone advise on potential financial out comes.
He was considering buying her out of the mortgage but he is unsure if it will be affordable.
He has debts in his name such as loans, CCs and car finance.
Also has several pensions from previous employment.
They live in Scotland.
Thanks

I'd suggest that he goes to see a solicitor as soon as possible - they will be able to give him some advice and he can then take things from there.
Rules are diicernt in Scotoland than in England and Wales so while he could take a look at sites such as Wikivorce he does need to be 100% certain that an advice / informatin relatesto Scottish Law.
Many family solicitors offer a fee initial half hour so his best bet is to talk to someone for some initial advice. He can then decide whether he wants to instruct that solicitor to deal with split for him, but it will give him a starting point.
It would be sensboble for him to speak to a mertgage advisor and also to his curent lender to see whether it would be possible for him to raie a mortgage to biy out his ex, as obviously that will effect what proposals or discussions he has with her.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
