    I'll phone a mortgage broker to ask if being salary sacrifice matters to affordability and if personal pension via standing order would be overlooked by some lenders

    If all good I'll phone payroll and ask them if they'll do it (or not) and if necessary for a set period of time

    Pension 1 (dB) will perk up again after it all finishes and the life cover it provides I could just take insurance for out of the savings

    If you have over 4 years until it matters, there is nothing to stop you starting salary sacrifice now and reviewing nearer the time. You might need to temporarily stop contributions altogether if you are borrowing a lot relative to your income.

    Hmrc are certainly targeting company lease cars that are low emissions, with salary sacrifice schemes, and other things.
    God knows why? They were encouraged to do it for the high Carbon scheme;
    Seems lots of people , like my Grandson,who has a Prius; have taken this route, to car ownership, plus, from next April, road fund tax goes up to £140 (in the second year) of new low emmission cars,the new flat rate, which will add a lot of tax and Ni to this type of car ownership.
    Same as Derv vehicles.

    Last time we got a mortgage, it was my "reference salary" (i.e. before sacrifice) that was used for the mortgage application. This was on my payslips and the bank just ignored the salary sacrifice deductions.
