Booking a whole ski chalet - the cheaper option?

Hi All,

I've been going on ski holidays (mainly to France) for a number of years now. Originally I used to hostel it, and more recently I've grabbed some excellent last minute deals.
I was thinking this year I might trying booking a whole chalet and persuading friends to come. I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with this?

Does it work out cheaper?
Where's the best place to look for deals on whole chalets?

I've started investigating, and as with booking a hotel, prices seem to vary hugely based on time of year and location.

Would really appreciate any advice on where to start, and how to get some serious value for money

Many thanks

Boythorne
