and a big whoop whoop for pay day :j and the hideous cold I seem to have been suffering from for the best part of 2 weeks is finally going.
firstly my monthly balance update
CC1 7730 (0%)
CC2 7428 (0%)
Loan 1 4806 (6.2%) - June 2018
Loan 2 11,137 (8.9%) - Jan 2020
Total debt £31,101
Emergency fund £1080
Feeling very very pleased ....another goal achieved (emergency fund over £1000) and 10% of debt gone before the end of the year.
The last few weeks I have been pondering what to do with the credit card debt, the plan originally was to pay off just £80 per month on CC1 and throw the rest of the money at CC2 and let the loans take care of themselves until the credit cards were payed and then overpay loan 2 with the spare money.
However, i am now wondering if i might be better to pay the minimum amount off the credit cards while still ensuring the balances will be zero before interest kicks in (2020 for both) and paying the extra off Loan 2 which would ultimately save money???
Any advice on what to do going forward would be gratefully received, as I am really going round and round on this one and there is a great danger of 'death by spreadsheet' if i don't decide and stick to a strategy soon.
I would also like to keep saving a small amount of £100 to £150 each month and keep building up the emergency fund.
Well folks, silly season is about to start, and I have lots to do this month....presents and christmas is all sorted, however, I will need to keep a reign on social spending....(office christmas party, annual family meal out, a theatre trip, visitors coming for christmas and a weekend away to visit family)....so I have put my christmas bonus to one side, which i am hoping will cover the extra spends. The theatre is already paid for and the office party is free :T, so hopefully there will be some left to throw at the debt......Total Debt 31st August 2016 £34,586

Happy New Year.....albeit a bit belated
So diary updates, as expected Christmas never quite goes as planned and usually ends up more expensive than predicted, but overall I didn't do to badly and although one CC did increase I am pleased to report that overall debt went down.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for my weight, which went up 3lb but considering I ate the weight of a tiny elephant and sloshed my way through more bottles of vino than I care to mention, I guess it could have been worse.
So, whilst I don't do New Year resolutions...I cant help have goals, updating the bucket list etc....not to mention a lovely , shiny, new 2017 spreadsheet (Yep, I am a not so secret geek)
2017 - goals
Pay of £16,000 work of debt.
Lose the final 3 stone and get to goal AND STAY THERE!!!
Walk at least 7000 steps a day
Build emergency fund to £3000
Try something new, once a month.
So far its going well I am doing at least 7000 steps a day and I lost 4lb last week ....so getting back to normal. and the emergency fund currently stands at £850 (reduced over Christmas, due to vets bills).
The try something new - well I've joined slimming world, prior to this I just kind of 'cut back' without any kind of real plan. So far I am enjoying it, you can eat loads so I'm not hungry.....seems a bit to good to be true at the moment, although the jury's still out on the actual class, which isn't really my thing, but maybe I will get into it.

Hey luckylise - Happy New Year!!!
I was the same over Christmas & New Year ate & drank so much, enjoyed it but back to WW as of yesterday. I just use the app on my phone & weigh at home. Need to lose another 5 stone - eeeeek!
Your 2017 goals look good & you can definitely achieve them all - good luck!

Hi Dolly,
YAY!!! So this year we will both be losing both pounds and debt
Good to hear from you, I have to admire your willpower, weighing yourself at home...I would find that far to easy to 'cheat' , clinging onto the sink, balancing on one leg type of things (basically anything that shows I have lost weight ) :rotfl:
Thanks for wishing me luck with my goals and the same to you too, I am going to try and post more often this year...I truly believe that this forum helps loads and keeps me so much more focused.
Take Care,

sneaks back in, with my head hung in shame for neglecting my diary for so long.

Well the last couple of months have flown by and what with work, family and having work done on the house, I'm afraid my diary has been neglected.
So current debt situation
CC1 £7256
CC2 £7465 Both CC's on 0% until 2020
Loan - £13650 (3.2%)
so everything is coming down slowly but surely!
A little update on my 2017 goals, well the weight loss is going well, I've managed to lose 21 lbs so far :T and the walking is also going well, with an current average of 13,000 steps a day. Emergency fund currently stands at £1250.:T
Last months 'try something new' never quite happened, unless you count locking yourself out of the house and attempting to squeeze a rather large derriere through a rather small window...much to the amusement of the neighbours and it was not an experience I wish to repeat
Not decided on a 'try something new' for April yet, but fancying something creative....just not sure what, maybe make something for the garden as i am feeling quite inspired to get outside again, now we have daylight in the evenings. I cant believe how much more positive I feel about everything now that the clocks have changed.
Well, time to get some work done and hopefully my next diary entry will not be quite so long, I am really fancying signing up to some of the challenges and trying to put some real effort into debt busting as I have been coasting along and not nearly as focused as i should be since Christmas and I know this forum will give me just the kick up the backside that I need.Total Debt 31st August 2016 £34,586

Good for you luckylise.
My weight loss has come to a standstill at around 21lbs  My own fault but will need to sort that out!
Good to have you back!

Thanks Dolly Rocker,
You have my sympathy, my weight fell off at first, but has slowed tight down now....if only we could lose lbs as quick as we did £'s hey?
Not much to report today, i was hoping to have a NSD, but then remembered I'm having my hair done after work so will in fact be an expensive day even if it is in the budget.
I have also managed to sell my old phone, so I will have an extra £50 to pay off of a credit card when the money arrives tomorrow.
Meal plans for next week are started and taking a long time tbh. I'm juggling to try to keep the costs down, the syns down and fill the lucky mob up....not to mention the diary I now have to keep to work out who is where for dinner and who will be late home or needs a packed lunch etc. Someday's it feels like I'm running a hotel rather than a home
