You have made a fab start! 2 debts already down!!!

I have a similar level of debt and had my LBM earlier this year. Have made a start of clearing it down, on hold for a few months as trying to get money aside for xmas, car MOT and birthdays to stop the CC being used.

I'll subscribe to cheer you on along the way
    Ash x :)
  • Hi Everyone and happy Saturday

I'm always amazed when someone comments on my ramblings, so thank you all X

I agree Clear my Debts, it is nice to live a little when clearing debts, you did really well though to go 4 years without a holiday, but just think how great that celebration 'debt free' holiday will be :)

Thanks for subscribing Ash, another thing I need to learn how to do. I need to do the same as you and start saving for car insurance and Christmas, it's those things that sneak up on you and then as you say get chucked on a CC....and I'm determined this debt is only going down. I'm going to start Christmas shopping in October rather than leave it until the last minute like I usually do and then panic buy.

So today's DF journey, wrote a meal plan for the week and went shopping with just a list and cash....(polishing my halo as I write) :A

And took the pooch for a long walk and managed to get back before the rain so no muddy paws to wipe ....love holidays, but it does feel good to be back home. No debt payments today, but I'm very pleased as I've still got £25 left from the shopping budget, which should easily last me until Friday (my budget runs from Friday to Friday)

Right off to make some food....I'm craving a fish finger butty (always do when I come back from holiday lol, it seems to be the only time I eat them)

  • Hey luckylise,

I am the same with the whole 1/2 an hour from home worries Anytime I hear a fire truck I always am convinced I am going home to a pile of ashes!

Glad you had a fab time & also having some money left over from the budget is great!

  • Had a lovely day pottering about at home, beds all changed and ready for guests at the weekend and made a lovely lemon drizzle cake, which I know will be no good whatsoever for my waistline but I shall have just 1 Slice and Mr. lucky can take the rest to work.

I've also had time to think about a few challenges and like the idea of no spend days and taking packed lunches to work....so this week I'm aiming for 3 no spend days and 4 packed lunches ( Friday I'm working in London , so will get fed on the train and be treated to a corporate lunch).

I also want to cut down on clothes spending, I don't really need anything and keep chanting manically ' want and need are not the same' :p . The only thing I need are some new winter boots, but will wear them for work most days and my last pair are looking quite shabby now. So I will buy some on pay day, and spend the next couple of weeks looking for a good quality and good value pair.

A strange thing has happened since I got serious about debt busting....I'm wishing my life away  pay day can't come around quick enough so I can reduce my debt....it seems ages away and I really really really want to update my signature. Perhaps tomorrow I will check the monthly budget and see if there's a little bit spare or at least do a Tilly tidy ( never quite sure whether to round the debt balance down to an even number or round my current account down to a round number )

Today's positive ending.....I had a no spend day :T and packed lunches all ready for tomorrow :T

  • Aw sounds like a perfect Sunday.

I'm the same as you, I will the month away so that I can make more payments & reduce the debt!

    Well done on your NSD.

  • Bank accounts checked and a little Tilly tidy of £2.87 sent off to the credit card.....current account balance is now £125, but still got £750 due in before pay day, so things looking fine at the moment.

Feeling a little fed up today, I am just so impatient and want to pay the debt off NOW! I can't quite believe I let the debt build up so much before I decided to tackle it, I'm so cross with my self.

Anyway today's positive another NSD and I found a screwed up fiver in my jacket pocket which can go towards a birthday pressie I need to buy for Friday...

Hey, just stumbled across your diary, I'm feeling frustrated at the min about the slow slog paying the debts off, like you I just want them gone!

Good luck with it and bonus finding the fiver!
Making £1,000 plus every month from home :T
  • I feel exactly the same as you. So cross I got myself into this mess and only now am I doing something about it. I pay so much off each month and think what I could be doing with that money if I didn't have debt :(
At least we have realised though and are doing something about it.
    We'll get there xx
    May 2015: £11685.56 / November 2017: £2076
    Credit card: £302
    Paid back : £700 / £2476
  • Same here all this debt & nothing to show for it.

I am very cross at myself also!

Woo hoo for finding a wee crumpled up fiver, love it!

Hey cmcavon, you are doing great, paying debts down and a healthy emergency fund and Christmas savings! :T you should be proud.

little_miss_spendtoomuch and Dolly Rocker (fab name by the way)...I think it's only natural to get cross sometimes, but at least we are dealing with things and hopefully our 'crossness' (not sure that is even a word) but you know what i mean, will stop us making the same mistake in the future...and at least the debt is going the right way
