have seen some amazing ideas of under floor storag from companies like smartstoragesolutions and was wondering if anyone had had work done through them or similar companies. Is it ludicrously expensive. Also interested how much independent carpenters would charge :money: thanks

A local joiner will be cheaper, but you are having a customised construction so you will pay for the measuring and the specific hardware, so it won't be cheap.

If you down the local joiner or handyman route, you need to think about how much weight the drawers need to hold. If you take on the job of sourcing the drawer slides, you might save more money as the joiner will have to price in the time to find suirable slides.

One observation about the design of the drawers in SalsaDanca's link is that if something in the drawers shifts and then stops the drawers from opening you could have a very hard time getting them open. Drawers with lids might avoid that risk, but a simpler and better solution might be to have the entire fascia fitted with magnetic catches so that the whole front can be popped off if something goes wrong.
