DFD IVA Closure

Options
Hi,

Can anyone please advise me how long IVA closure usually takes please? My creditors / Debtfree Direct agreed my closure on 16th March 2016 after accepting a full & final payment, 8 months early. I called them today and they told me they would email the closure team to find out progress, however I received mixed messages from them every time I call, very often with wrong information. I expected closure to take between 3 and 6 months, I just didn't expect such mixed messages from them.

I want to be able to draw a line under my IVA now, and would very much like to receive my closure certificate so I can move on and put this sorry mess behind me. Can anyone please advise how long this process usually takes please?

Thanks for listening.

    Hi Vw6770 and welcome MSE,

Unfortunately, there is no set time frame for this. I would suggest that you email/ write to Debt Free Direct and make it clear you are unhappy about the delay and lack of communication. If you have any paperwork confirming your settlement figures were successfully accepted and the creditors have been paid now then it should be quite straight forward. If you don't have any paperwork confirming this then you need your IP to confirm exactly what is happening, when the money was paid and why your can't have your certificate of completion?

Always query this with your IP first, if you still cannot get a clear answer you can escalate the matter internally (ask for a copy of their complaints process) and then, potentially up to their trading body (if necessary). Hopefully you will get this sorted soon, keep everything in writing from now on.
