Hi all,
Hope you can help. I'm looking to purchase a car. I live in a residential block with private underground parking with a locked gate. Each house has one allocated car parking space.
On "compare the market", we have the following categories to choose from:
"locked garage"
"unlocked garage"
"drive"
"street outside of home"
"street away from home"
"other - locked compound"
"other - public/work car park"
"other - private property".
I'm torn between private property and locked compound.
Keen for any advice!
Iain

I would put the "dearest" one - private property would be what I would tick. Locked compound may mean the only person who has access is you which wouldnt be the case here.0

Find the cheapest / best policy then speak to the insurer before buying to clarify just in case
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I'd suggest "locked compound" means that access is barred to unauthorised pedestrians as well as vehicles.0

"Locked compound" is most likely, as "private property" could cover fields or unsecure pitches. Maybe even "locked garage", if your underground parking could be classed as one. Then check with your insurer, it probably makes no difference anyway.0

I agree, "locked compound" by definition is more secure than "private property".0

I'd go with "locked compound", too.0
