Hi all, I live in a fairly old house (approx. 1910) and I have a blocked drain. I know nothing about drains but its the one that the sinks feed into, and water is backing up and overflowing over the grate. My kitchen sink/bathroom drain occasionally gets blocked its only the small removable drain cover that is filled with hair and soap etc that's at fault. If you can feel a drain cover below the water (with gloves of course) it lifts out and you can clean it once removed the water runs away. I run the hose down it and sluice with some Jays fluid. It could be that simple or of course much more complicated if its blocked further along.
