House insurance claim

We had a leak in the kitchen from the bathroom, the insurers have now given us a figure for the payment it says excluding VAT, can anyone tell me if we also get the VAT on the payment also

Assuming they are paying for the repairs (rather than cash in lieu) and that you are not vat registered (or if you are and the property involved is not involved with the business) there will be no problem and they will pay the VAT.
If you are instructing your own contractor to do the repairs then they will want the invoice for the job showing whether or not you paid any VAT before paying you the VAT involved (if any).0 -
You will get the VAT if you're charged VAT. You usually have to provide them with the final invoice, so they can see your contractor is VAT registered (as not all are).0
