Outdoor car cover for classic car

Hi all,

I wonder if any of you can help. We are having to move our Triumph Stag from its usual happy home in our garage whilst some building work takes place. She will have to stay outside in the cold for approximately 6-8 weeks.

We are looking to source a cover but being MSE we'd like to keep the cost as low as possible as this is only a short term thing. We have found this
but would ideally like to pay less than £161!!! (which is the price inclusive of the Stormforce upgrade)

Can any one help?
Thanks to all who post comps :A :T

Argos do car covers from £15 upwards - might do you for 8 weeks.

Only problem with any car cover is that it'll rub on your paintwork.

Don't bother. 6-8 weeks outside isn't going to make any difference. Cars are designed to be used in the wet.

In fact I'd go as far as to say that they make matters worse as they trap the damp in the air which forms condensation on the car as night time comes. Come daytime, the cover prevents wind etc drying the car out.

    Hi,

I take your point Conor but no way would OH allow his Pride & Joy outside for any length of time without a "coat" on.

He likes the Stormforce cover because it allows the car to "breathe" apparently & stops the condensation.

Thanks for your comments Skim, I'll take a look at Argos, although I think their covers may cause the condensation Conor was mentioning.

I feel sorry for cars like his. They're there to be used. Mine is used as a daily driver and despite being 21 years old, this month is racking up 560 miles a week commuting to work and it is so much better for doing so.

I take your point Conor, and believe me the Stag has had a long and happy working life, she's been with him 22 years (since he was 21) & is well loved, however, she is not a practical family car or business vehicle and has therefore seen a little less road time in recent years. She is due a full makeover after our building work is complete & then we plan to let her out much more regularly :o

Thanks nullogik, I'll take a look at them.
