Zanussi fridge freezer problems

I have a Zanussi fridge/freezer - ZNB3450s. It is 18 mths old and the freezer alarm started going off and the temperature going up and down.
The engineer came out put a bit of mastic around the rear pipe and it was mended. He said air was getting in through the rear pipe. The fridge outlet already had mastic, but non visible on freezer.
He told me to ring customer services and ask for the service fee back - but I wasn't to mention that he had told me to do it! I said is it a manufacturing fault - his reply , well I didn't say that!
Customer serivces are uming and ahhing.
Can anyone tell me have they had this problem and does anyone else know where I stand

Hi,
I've just read your post on the Zanussi fridge/freezer. I realise the post is quite old now but google picked it up. We have exactly the same make/model of fridge/freezer and are experiencing exactly the same problems you described.
Did you manage to get your money back - did Zanussi admit it was a manufacturing fault? Has the problem stayed away since you had it fixed by the engineer?
Would really appreciate your help.
Many Thanks0 -
Hi, My freezer seems to be suffering from the same fault at just over 2 years old. I've had a good look behind the freezer and neither the fridge or freezer pipes have any kind of tape. Can you describe the repair that the service rep did? Did you get your service charge refunded by Zanussi and have you had any further problems since? Thanks0

No I didn't but I didn't push it and probably should have. He sealed the pipe. Yes have occasional problems - my answer to this is to unload, turn it off and let it defrost it seems to help.0
