Ticket parking in suspended bay

Hi all,

Unfortunately I received a parking ticket today for parking in a suspended bay in the City of London.
I usually drive to work on a bank holiday, so put my car in one of the bays and walked off to work. However when I got back myself (and everyone else on my side of the street) had been ticketed for parking in a suspended set of bays.
As parking is not typically enforced on a bank holiday I didn't pay any attention to the bay signs, but there was nothing obvious suggesting that the bay's were closed.

Is it worth appealing or should I just suck it up and pay?
