Damage By Carpet Fitter

I'd be wanting the full cost of the carpet and fitting back , it looks like spray glue on one of the pics (yellowish stain) And from my experience I'd say the carpet looks to be delaminating (backing seperating from the top layer) You get what looks like ripples on top .
In honesty I would put it down to experience , get a new one from somewhere else , then get the wardrobe repaired after .
I'm not sure what you paid for the carpet , but if you get it back it will surely cover the repair and a bit towards a better job from somewhere else ?
For £30 fitting it can't be a huge piece ?0 -

I would agree the staining looks like spray adheasive (which is actually a lot easier to clean then most people think), a couple of minuites of "aggressive" wipping with a baby wipe will clear that (though the longer its left the harder it is to clean).
While its possiable the lumps in the carpet is delamination, to me the pattern of it looks more like simple crease bubbles caused by bending the carpet round a corner (or over sholder) while rolled up. These are perfictly normal and assuming the carpet has been correctly streached should drop out on their own in a couple of weeks.
The scuff in image 2 looks likley to have been caused by the carpets backing though without seeing it in person (and seeing the carpets backing) its hard to bee totally sure but would bee easy for and experenced fitter to conrifm in person as carpets leave quite unique (almost fingerprint unique) scuff patterns corresponding to the roughness (or lack of) in the backing.
The first picture dose have me baffled. that is DEFFENATLY not caused by carpet. If carpet caused that there would bee a corresponding equally as deep scuff on the leading edge of the handle to the right of the scuff. If it was caused by hammer (when fitting gripper) or other heavy tool used in fitting carpet there would be a visable dent just above the scuff. Personally i would say that one was caused with the door off the runners so either, factory, delivery, fitting or if the carpet fitter removed the doors (to aid carpet fitting).
In sumery i would say the fitter caused issues (in order of picture),
1) Possiable - though more likley not
2) Most likley - Usually (but not always) these scuffs can buff out with a little rubbing with a clean damp cloth.
3) Deffenatly - Though easy to clean.
4) Normal settlement should resolve itself (assuming the carpet is correctly streached) in a couple of weeks.
Just to explain a little about myself i have been a carpet fitter for 21 years and have seen all manor of scuffs, chips, glue marks etc caused by others in my capacity as an independant flooring inspector and occationally (though not too often) caused by myself.
just to explain why i quoted Mr Poves while discussing colstu310's pictures. i origionally started off just wanting to correct the delamination claim, but by the time i had done that i thought i may aswell answer everything else.0 -

Yeah i will put it down to experience & will be watching over any other tradesman i have in my home going forward.
I had another fitter out last night to look at it. A guy that we have used previously & recommended to others & had no issues with. Only for convience did we go with the stores fitter, a decision i am now regretting. He pulled the carpet up & took abt 2cm off each side & stretched it out & it looks 100 times better!
The carpet wont be going back as its now sorted. I am only hoping to get the cost of the repair back from the original fitter. Will see how that goes this afternoon:undecided0
