Hi,
I found a bulging file of old bank account statements recently and only then really realised just how many different loans we took out from around 1999 onwards.
But with only payment reference numbers from those statements, and with us going through a v difficult time right now (family illness, juggling full-time work with carer duty etc), I'm in a position where I just haven't got time to pursue all those who may have missold us PPI.
So I'm reluctantly looking at using a claims management company.
Has ANYONE on this forum ever had a reasonable experience with one of these firms? I see plenty of them advertising that they only charge 12.5% fees.
Any help from people who have actually used a claims firm would be much appreciated.

If you use a Claim Company you will pay them a large proportion of any redress you might be awarded for basically putting a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint. You'll also pay VAT on their fee.
No one here will recommend a Claim Company and, even if they did, it would be deleted as spam advertising.

honestly, make the time to persue these. in one evening you could do it all yourself and not thave to pay that ridiculous fee's. they won't do anything special to guarantee you a refund. it might feel like a ballache, but they'll make more stress for youex Claims management company credit controller

Why? They dont speed the process up. In fact they slow it down. Plus, they have a lower success rate than individual complaints.I see plenty of them advertising that they only charge 12.5% fees.

Thanks for responses. With the limited information I have (ie no policy documents, just bank statements), the problem is I'm not clear on how to begin the process myself, let alone do it all on one evening.
Most of the online guides I have seen seem to cater for those who have original documentation to hand. Beyond that, advice seems to be to enquire with each individual company involved, but the forms I have downloaded or accessed online for different firms thenselves seem to demand information re policies that I don't possess.

First things first - do you know whether you definitely had PPI with the loans you took out?
If you don't know for sure, then you will need to ask each loan provider. This may narrow down the potential complaints to make.
When you approach the businesses you had loans with, provide as much information as you can. The dates you took out the loans, the address you lived at at the time.
Once you know what, if any, loans had PPI you can make your complaint. You don't need to fill in forms - you just need to contact each business and explain why you're unhappy.
Some businesses may send out a form for you to provide more detailed information. You should answer the questions as best you can. Some of the questions may ask for detail concerning the policies -if you can't remember, just leave the question.0 -
There is no way for a claims company to find ANY information you don't have access to, all they will do is send off complaints to all and sundry and hope some of it sticks. They will harm your complaint with made up reasons (even contradictory ones like saying you didn't know you had it and you were told you had to have it by the sales staff!).

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Your PPI premium data is not in the public domain. So, the claims company wont know what you had unless you tell them.
By the time you have told them everything, you could have done one complaint template and copied it multiple times to send to each firm. Maybe editing the odd bits to reflect the differences.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Prior to 2009 most loan wre sold with single premium PPI, which is currently a big no no even if you needed the PPI.
If you had consecutive or consolidation loans, all you need to do is complain about the first one, and ask them to look into all the others [if you had them with the same bank]
Phone up the bank concerned and ask them if you had PPI, and tell them you want to make a complaint. It's tht simple [to start with anyway]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
