Some minor channel no doubt trying to create a story rather than report the facts.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

You can of course tell us what you think. I'm not sure if you've read the reports in the papers, but Five News is the first organisation to ban any form of fakery from our programme. Nothing can be staged !! If they're a customer, then we'd love to hear your views.....sadly, we need someone within easy reach of London though0

To be fair, I did read that fakery ban on digital spy website so credit where credit due.
However, NR problems are not severe. They affect ongoing profits and profitability. There is no solvency problem as their assets far outweigh the liabilities.
The problem they are suffering now is a media scaring individuals which can in turn create a run on their deposits and further affect new business.
The average customer is influenced by what opinions they read/see in the news and negativity (particularly with newspapers) sells better. So, the customers you seek will no doubt have concerns which will breed more concern. I would have thought getting a financial expert on board discussing the facts and possible consequences was far more valuable than Mrs Jones with 2 O levels in cookery and geography telling us about Northern Rocks financial state.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). That's exactly the point we plan to get across...and will be hearing extensively from a financial expert to alleviate fears0

In case anyone has any concerns, Five News has already contacted us and does have permission to post on the forum

If they interview one person that says they are going to panic and five other people that say they are taking financial advice and see no need to panic, which will get shown?
If they show the panic one, is it faking the news?0 -
Scare mongering is the last thing that needs to be done at the moment, the most important thing for anyone in the midst of this is to stay calm and take advice from your advisers. No knee jerk reactions like drawing out all your money very quickly or looking to remortgage and incur early repayment charges - not only will you potentially hurt yourselves, you could cause further problems for northern rock as well.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Northern rock was a popular share in equity income funds. So, ISAs and pensions and just as affected by the scare mongeringI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
