It doesn't try to turn over really slowly, it turns as normal, but there is no end product, it's nearly there but not quite. I'll look to post this on the consumer rights forum too

It could be something simple and on the plus side its not an intermittent fault, so will be easy to find.

Clogged fuel filter, faulty pump, etc, would cause the problems you're talking about.

Old cars are usually run with little maintenance - or not at all - so things like fuel filters end up not getting changed.

It might be an awful lot easier to have a local mechanic (or mobile mechanic) fix it then put in a moneyclaim online claim against the dealer for the repair costs.

Keep a full journal of any communication you've had with the dealer in the meantime.

TS will just tell you to reject the car, which in a fantastic idea in principle, but doesnt solve any issues for you if you're 50 miles from the dealer and hes refusing to play ball.

OP , where you given 2 keys to the vehicle?

perhaps the key you are using at the moment is/was a replacement and either has no chip in it or has not been programmed for the car

if 2 keys , try the other one

I was given the key in the garage I bought it from. I did stop at the shop on the way home, took the key out and restarted it and on my way, so I doubt it's a key issue

Get a mobile mechanic to have a look at the car, to determine what the fault is, and how much it would cost to fix. As you chose to buy a car from a dealer who is not local to you, it's not going to be easy to get the dealer to even look at the car to find out what might be wrong.

Likely much cheaper getting someone local to try and figure out what's wrong with it, then getting it transported 50 miles back to the dealer.

    And it's a mk 4 astra

If it's like the corsa's then I guess it's the imobiliser track behind the speedo has a crack in it. The dash has to re not good with electronics and a soldering iron, then you will have to get it repaired.

Do you have access to a multi meter? if so its very easy to see if the what the current battery voltage is and if its holding charge and if you do get it started do an alternator check with the multimeter its straight forward to do if you get stuck see youtube plenty of vids on there

Next port of call is to check if the fuel pump is priming again you can hear it when you unlock the doors or turn the cars igntion on

like others have said it could be a really simple fix not being funny but people dont put effort in to trying to resolve the problem but are quick to reject a car, put some effort in on your part if you still cant get it going call someone out such as rac or aa if you have cover that is

    good luck
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

you have rights. You have a 6 year guarantee afforded to you as a UK consumer. You are not obligued to return the car an the don't collect it you can sell and and keep the money. If the dealer does collect it you have a right to your expenses back and can legally take the radio and other non-essential parts to cover this.
Tell me, do you get some perverse pleasure in posting totally incorrect information? maybe you are doing it in an attempt to make others lose money or maybe you actually believe it but whatever the reason, it's about time that you actually read up on consumer law before some newbie starts believing your misguided posts.

I've said nothing that is incorrect
