So a strange problem with a direct debit.
It seems that the money which should have been collected hasn't been. Now normally that would be good.
I've not been asked for the money, and it seems as if the company has forgotton that I owe them money.
The problem is that I've just noticed I've not been paid 3 months of £5 reward bonus from my halifax account because my £1 direct debit has not been taken.
Now I'm not sure that this is halifax's error - I don't know what to do.
Can I complain to the telecoms company EE who are supposed to charge me £1 per month for broadband.
For the sake of the £3 they've failed to take, I'm out of pocket £15.

The bank does not control direct debits. The originator does. Can I complain to the telecoms company EE who are supposed to charge me £1 per month for broadband.
You can. Given the small amount involved, they may offer a goodwill payment but they are not responsible for your bank terms.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Worth a shot with EE, and maybe even Halifax if you've been a good customer (but not if you're simply abusing the account like many of us here are).0 -
I should pay 1.95 to EE Bb monthly. However they consider this not worth the hassle to collect monthly, so collect bi monthly.
It shows it on my online bill.
I suggest you find another way to for fill the 2 DD requirements.0 -
having not looked at the T&C's recently does not fulfilling the requirements for the reward account in any one month not lose the reward benefits permanently?
I know my OH lost 2 reward accounts a couple of years back due to either funding or DD issues, within a week new none "reward" branded debit cards had been issued and "reward" lost.
she simply opened a new "reward" account but only one "reward" account was allowed by then.0 -

No not now, Halifax used to downgrade accounts that missed the T&C's but this isn't the case any more you just sacrifice the reward for the months that you don't keep to the T&C's
To the OP, you need to find another DD, either paypal or Tescos if your EE bill is not paid monthly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
