If i were you i would keep the honda.
 Why?
 Almost unparalleled reliability
 Great fuel economy
 Great all rounder.
 What not to like?
 Is yours an ES?0

My commute is 10 miles each way. Around half is clear motorway, a quarter city traffic (traffic lights everywhere), and the other quarter is stop-start congested motorway (usually). I get ~64 mpg on average from a diesel. With a 40 mile trip I can't imagine a petrol would get close if most of the journey is smooth. Diesel doesn't cost any more than petrol but the car itself may well cost a bit more.0

If you have a DPF, a stop-start short commute like that could cause issues in the long run as it will struggle to clean itself unless you regularly do longer runs as well. It may also wear the clutch which tends to be coupled with an expensive DMF. Personally I wouldn't get a diesel with a DPF for that type of driving, although if it was getting 64 in traffic I'd take my chances on the clutch/DMF . 0 . 0

Not sure I'd call it start-stop when the 10 miles takes 25-30 minutes. If you have a DPF, a stop-start short commute like that could cause issues in the long run as it will struggle to clean itself unless you regularly do longer runs as well. I drive to London (two hour round trip) once a month on average too so I'm sure it's fine.0

I think so but in any case the engine is the same.Is yours an ES?
You may already know but the i-vtec is the clever bit.
The system adjusts valve timing for economy when driving sensibly and readjusts for ..err..performance when you want a bit of whoomf.
I'm not a whoomfer.. Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Honda V-TEC - Very very good engines and super reliable, as long as it's maintained.
I would not change the car either, it's doing good MPG, helped by the 6 speed gearbox.0

Indeed,,i always use Mobil one 0-30 fully synthetic and the Honda oil filter, changed yearly. Using the wrong oil in this engine can affect performance and economy.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Expensive oil, though. Castrol Edge is a good alternative and sometimes on offer at ECP.
 Anyway, I digress...
 Keep the car OP.0

Cox motor parts up in Morecambe are also really good for price, service and delivery of oils and Honda bits.Expensive oil, though. Castrol Edge is a good alternative and sometimes on offer at ECP.
