Hi there,
I have POA and am the main carer for my aunt who has Alzheimers disease and is currently living on her own, at home, with a care package in place.
She has large numbers of tax vouchers relating to numerous shares, but she thinks that these were all sold off at some point, how could I check?
She believed that the GSK shares, though, were still live, and on checking with the dealer service, listed on them, EQUINI, she was correct, but they said that I should be able to find 34 individual share certificates from July 2016 - 2008, and that she had 954 shares live on their system.
I can only find 20 ..... where do I go from here?
Thanks for any help. That is just the first two of many questions.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Check with registrar of each company.0 -
Thank you - that is extremely helpful.
I am now looking at a big (A3 size) Provident Mutual Life Assurance Association dated 3rd April 1991 (in my Aunt's name), which under payable says, "that the accumulation or the total premiums paid under this policy if greater (See Section 10) On the death of the Life Assured before the Vesting Date defined in Section 3" I cannot see a Vesting Date in Section 3.
Is this likely to have been a term assurance policy that is now out of date? Anybody got an idea of how to track down the people responsible for this policy.
Thanks again. I have spent all day putting things in piles and think that my aunt, who would not put her hand in her pocket to buy me a cup of tea, is sitting on hundreds of thousands of pounds.
I can see from her bank accounts that she is getting regular income from quite a number of bonds/ISA's so I am having to track those down too.
Thanks.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

You may need to check with Aviva

Thanks again, I really would not know where to start!
Next question - what would you do with a pile of stamps that were potentially valuable?I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Are Scottish Amicable still around - her husband has a pension with them but I can't see payments in to the account after he died in 2014 only a widowns pension from BP but that is with another company.

Yet another one from Scottish Life a marketing division of Royal London that she does not seem to be getting a widows pension from - anyone know if they are still about? Last correspondence is 2002.
There also quite a number of bottles of single malt whiskey that has been specially blended and labeled for special occasions. I was about to give a bottle to a doctor, for his kindness, but her also very rich and tight friend said each bottle was worth 100's of pounds. Could that be right? Who would buy that?
Gave doctor a bottle of 18 year old cased Glenfiddich instead. My scrooge days are over !!! What is the point of eating from the reduced section!!!I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. A "single malt that has been blended" is a contradiction - It is either a single malt, or it is a blended whiskey.
An aged single malt from a small distillery, especially if it is a long gone distillery, could indeed be quite valuable. Some bottles go for £50,000 or more if it is very rare.
There are a few specialist retailers that can advise on buying & selling whiskeys and one or two may be interested in selling the collection on commission. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Thanks. I am afraid I am pretty ignorant on these subjects. My uncle was a longstanding member of the whiskey society, Edinburgh and the label does say single malt and commemorates the start of his transport company. By blended I meant was done specially for him.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. If the stamps are collectable, the long established name is Stanley Gibbons
