The key to saving is making sure your outgoings are less than your income. Then having the strength of will to put the excess away and not squander it.
Note for future it's better to give your thread a more descriptive title.0 -
The secret is not to live like these people

You will probably find it easier to save if you have a seperate account that you can move money to easily. Most savings accounts including ISA's can be setup so you can make payment to them via your internet banking service.
I pay most of my bills at the end of the month, so I move the excess in my current account over what I next to last to my next payday to my savings account around the end of month. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Only go to college/uni if you have a definite career plan and you know there are jobs in it you'd be willing to commute toThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Don't buy things you don't need for starters
Do you really need a coffee and bun on the way to work every day?
Do you need a new car?
Do you need new designer trainers?
It's that simple

wise words indeed!
which put me in mind of the writings of great sage Pan Shin, who, (if i recall correctly), wrote thusly:
"one morsel of bread, one sip of wine, a lifetime spent in remembrance and prayer"
much food for thought there!0 -
If you have a current account, check if your bank offers a regular saver.
They have reasonable interest rates usually, and commit you to putting away a set amount monthly for one year.0 -
Remember if you are saving money with a bank or building society make sure you are getting a good interest rate on your savings.
