Tesco, Braintree.

Tesco in Market Place, Braintree have applied for PP for the installation of ANPR camera system and alteration of parking to 2 hours maximum (as long as you spend at least £5 in store).

Time for those who wish to to object.

As I write this, the Braintree District Council planning portal is not working beyond the search page. Hopefully this will soon be fixed so I can post the relevent PP no.

Yes, as not having it is a criminal offence, not civil.

Why do you need to spend £5.00. Suppose you only want to buy some carrots, or a bottle of Blue Nun, and they are out of Blue Nun.

Exactley. I think their thinking is that the carpark is almost in the town centre and is used for free parking by customers avoiding using the nearby George Yard multistorey.

Freeport Braintree were planning to introduce parking time limits at one stage due to the large number of peopl using the carpark and free shuttle bus into town or the rail station to commute to London.

Now then, TD you're showing your age. No one would actually buy Blue Nun much as no one actually bought a bottle of Mateus Rose.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

In the 1970's there was nothing better than a meal consisting of prawn cocktail, steak and chips and Black Forest gateau, washed down with either a bottle of Blue Nun or Mateus Rose.

On a recent visit to Lisbon I was surprised to see the latter wine extensively advertised on bill-boards across the city. So the locals must still drink it.
