Fixed overhead shower

It's not hugely more expensive to have a fixed overhead shower combined with a "regular" shower.
As opposed to just having a "regular" wall mounted shower.

This type of thing:

Any particular pros/cons to the fixed overhead I should be aware of?
Most shower units advertised appear not to have them which is why I wondered.

I have a combi boiler, in case that makes any difference.

Thanks!

based on my own experience of having one of these put in last year
    1. Make sure you work out the height of the fixed showerhead very carefully.
    2. Don't oversize the fixed head - I get a decent shower in mine, but the smaller 'watering can' head in the other shower is better.
    3. If the holder for the handheld unit is fixed rather than moveable, then put a second one at a higher/lower height so it isn't always in the wrong place.

Possibly to ensure it's not too high that it leaks over the top of the shower screen? That sort of concern?

You mean, when buying one to buy one with a smaller fixed head?

    That's a good idea.

Valve should be 44inches from the inside of the bath .

Mira coda erd is good for the money

Hansgrohe are knocking out shower pipes that retail at £1200 for £420. The ultimate shower

To make sure it isn't so high you can't reach it to clean/descale, and it isn't so low the tallest user can't get underneath it.

I mean check your water pressure, then work out what the right size head is. Don't automatically assume that your water pressure will be fine with it.

Kids couldn't reach the handheld initially - personally I thought this was a good thing

In what way should I check the water pressure, and how would I know if a particular shower will be fine with that water pressure?

Is that the horizontal bar pictured near the bottom of the unit?

I'll take a look for them too. Is the best place to look to buy one of this brand at a plumbers merchants, or online?

I just had my first shower with it. Builder finished it yesterday. Its lovely. I used to have electric shower before with not much water coming out. I put both shower heads on today and both has plenty of water coming out.

It's not just pressure you need for a shower head over 100mm . You need flow

Average combi will do 9-13 litres of hot water so you should be fine

Hansgrohe made the air system that makes it feel like your using twice the water flow , cross water use similar technology , Mira have flip handsets but nothing that compares on the larger fixed heads

Find yourself a showroom that has wet displays , I can honestly say that we fit nothing other than Hansgrohe we people see the difference . The shower is the most functional item in a bathroom so it's where the difference should be spent

High quality German made . We have some of these shower pipes/ air heads that are now coming up to 15yrs old . No marking or dulling of chrome , same thermostatic cartridges . You'd be lucky to get 5-10 out of a Mira or Bristan .

Don't confuse this with grohe , same family origin but big difference in quality
