Printing from S6 phone

I'm trying to print on my HP 3050 printer from my S6, but it wont find the printer. My husband can print from his phone.
I've installed several plugins, but nothing will work! (Samsung Print service Plugin, HP eprint, HP print service plugin, Cloud Print)
Any suggestions?

What doesn't work? What are you trying to print from?
  • It cant find my printer. I've tried printing documents and photos, but it just suggests saving it to google drive.

OP I don't know if your HP 3050 printer looks like this: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-3050-all-in-one-printer-series-j610/4066450/manuals but I don't know how your OH is printing from his phone because AFAIK it doesn't support printing directly from a mobile phone.

Edit: I wonder if you're hubby has down the following on his phone?

On your Android device, open the Wi-Fi settings and make sure the device is connected to the same network as the printer.
Make sure the printer is connected to the wireless or wired (Ethernet) network with an active Internet connection.
If your printer is connected with a wired (Ethernet) connection, check the cable and the lights on the printer Ethernet port. The green link light should be steady, and the orange activity light should blink when the cable is connected.
If your printer is connected with a wireless connection, make sure the wireless feature is on and the printer is connected to the same network as your mobile device.
Some printers have a wireless icon and a blue light on the front of the printer. Make sure the light is on and not blinking, if your printer has a wireless icon.

HP Eprint should work , like the others have squad it needs to be on the same network , this excludes any wifi repeaters you have in the house . My 3050 used to swap to my wifi repeater rather than the hub and you couldn't print . I'd turn the repeater off then turn the printer off and on to allow it to reconnect to the hub again

I once had a printing issue between an Android tablet and an HP printer.
It turned out to be the weird way the printing option appears - or doesn't. If I recall correctly you had to tap the right hand edge of the save or send to icon and a drop down list appears showing the printer. The select device option is really well hidden. I remarked at the time how counterintuitive it was compared to the iPad method.
  • Thanks Browntoa, it was the wifi extender, I turned it off and its connecting.
One problem still though, its really really slow at printing, and even stops half way through a page. Would that be because its not got the software to print from a phone, anything I can do to speed it up?

Not come across that one before, I would've thought that once to printer fires into life, it will have the information it needs in it's memory if it's just normal documents, although some printers do pause from time to time when they are printing stuff like photographs. I use mobile printing all the time, both at work and at home mainly on Brother printers using both Apple and Android devices, never had any issues. I have no real experience of the HP E Print system, I used it once and found it a bit hard work compared to other mobile printing like Brother and Canon which are easy to use, no setting up accounts and no logging in.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Don't HP have 2 methods of printing? Either direct via your own wifi or using your HP cloud account, by sending an email? You could try the 2nd method. Anyway I had no speed issues printing from a Huddle to an HP printer.

Depends what you're printing - smartphone images can be quite big and needing a lot of processing to rasterise and dither and scale. This would account for pauses
