    Nobody has said it is "uniformly applied" . It's a business decision taken, most frequently, when all the Banks were snowed under with complaints a few years ago.

    Its not. The amounts they auto payout on will depend on a range of changing scenarios. Current workload capacity being a key one. One lender got into the £3000 range for a period but is a lot lower than that now.

    Barclays don't pay a FOS fee on individual cases. They agree a projected number of cases in advance and pay according to that.

    The main consideration when it comes to FOS referrals is reporting rather than cost.
