HI,
i have just cleared around 2k of space on my HSBC gold card, and just tried to call them to see if they had any offers to transfer some of the balance from my barclay card, maybe even get it for a lower rate.
got through to the talk from a script gang, and they told me there are no offers and they aren't accepting any transfers.
Is this crap? do I need to call during the working week to get someone with a brain or go into branch?
Any advice welcome

I'd go online and see what they have on offer there before phoning.0

You can't force them to do offers. Have you had any promotional material at all where they offer a new BT at some point (suggesting they may do an offer again) - if not then perhaps they don't do such offers in which case maybe try for a new BT card or pay off the card with the highest interest and close it then try for a new one
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
