How Long After a bus lane offence do/can they wait?
Options
My wife got a ticket for driving in the bus lane and it arrived over a month after the suggested offence. We can't remember which route we took that day but it's always the same and we can't work out where this happened.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time they have to send these letters? If it were closer to the time we might remember it.

As its most likely a summary only offence they will have s limitation of proceedings which is six months.0

What sort of ticket?
If it's a Notice of Intended Prosecution, it has to be served on the registered keeper of the vehicle within 14 days. If your wife is the RK, then it's out of time. However, the request to name the driver is still valid and she has to reply. If it's a leased or company car then she won't be the RK and the only time limit which applies is the six-month one for court action.
If it's a Penalty Charge Notice from a local council then different rules apply. You can get expert advice here http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=300
